‘Hand study in acrylics’ is a comprehensive lesson of over an hour that will teach you how to paint a realistic hand in acrylics.

In this lesson I will guide you through the process of creating a realistic hand from a reference photo, using acrylic paint.

We will start with drawing the hand, and I will explain to you how you can draw a hand in the right proportion, by looking at the angles, shapes and lines you see.

We will observe how the proportions of the hand relate to eachother, and how to create form.

I will also show you how to mix any flesh tone, by using complementary colours and white.

Then we will start painting the hand in acrylics, looking at the values to create form and depth.

We will build up the painting from dark to light, using thin layers of paint and observing the values we see in our reference photo.

This lesson is designed for beginners and intermediate artists who want to improve their skills in painting realistic hands.
