Artist statement

In my art, I explore the theme of human emotions and the inner world of women through abstract realism. My work delves into the deeper layers of feelings and connection, creating a space where the line between reality and abstraction dissolves, allowing a harmonious dance between figure and background.

In my paintings, human figures merge with abstract backgrounds, creating a soft, gentle yet powerful contrast This delicate interplay between recognizable forms and abstract elements highlights both the unique individuality of the figures and their integration into a broader emotional landscape. My aim is to illustrate that personal experiences and emotions are inextricably woven into a greater tapestry—a universal realm of feelings and thoughts.

By using soft transitions from realism to abstraction and harmonious colour schemes, I enhance a sense of introspection and connection. Texture is a defining feature in my work. With varied techniques and brushstrokes, I build up layers of paint, creating a tactile, almost sculptural quality, resulting in a rich and complex surface. This approach allows me to accentuate certain areas while leaving others loose and almost ethereal.

My art invites the viewer to appreciate not only the external beauty of the figures but also to explore the underlying emotional depths. The abstract backgrounds serve as a symbolic representation of the invisible forces and feelings that shape us, while the figures embody a sense of familiarity and vulnerability.

I challenge both myself and the viewer to look beyond the surface and immerse in the  layers of meaning that reside within each artwork. My work underscores that our understanding of the human experience is incomplete without acknowledging the subtle, often elusive emotions that connect us all. Through my art, I offer a profound reflection on our shared journey through the complexity of human existence, inviting viewers to explore their own reflections and emotions within my creations.

“With my art I want to invite the viewer to look beyond the surface an explore the inner emotions that connect us all.”
