For as long as I can remember, I have had the urge to create, to bring something beautiful and unique into the world that touches me and brings joy.

I love to play with colour, especially bright colours and transparency. I also enjoy using different materials or painting media and techniques in my work because of the beautiful combinations and effects they produce. It’s fascinating to see how some media react with each other and the magical effect this creates.

The first abstract layers in my work are a reflection of the world we live in, our personal living world, full of thoughts, emotions, and fantasies. The portrait or figure, often a woman because I identify with her is central. She is the focal point in this world.

The central theme in my work is the discovery of, and journey through, the inner world.

I depict this abstractly because everyone has their own world of experience. I don’t want to fill in too much for the viewer. I want them to be swept away by their own world and feelings, without being distracted by too many details.

In addition, I like to use graphic elements in my work, such as birds. They symbolize freedom for me; to be yourself, to follow your own rules; and to be critical of the dogmas or rules that are imposed on you. They also stand for letting go of things that don’t belong to you and for freeing your thoughts; chasing your dreams, your passions.

I like to use transparent and bright colours because they feel positive and powerful, and the transparent layers do not cover the underlying ones. This creates a beautiful layering that represents life.

I want my paintings to be powerful, but also sensitive, to inspire the viewer and give them the energy to follow their dreams, to not hold themselves back.
