In this painting, I wanted to capture a quiet, almost tender pause.

She sits with her knees pulled up, one arm wrapped around her legs, a mug held close in the other hand.

Her warm socks, her posture, the way she leans into herself, it all speaks of comfort, of being fully present in her own moment.

Her eyes rise just above the rim of the mug, meeting ours with a look that feels mysterious, as though she’s both here with us and somewhere far away inside herself.

Beside her, the black cat doesn’t look at us, but past us, gazing into the distance, as if it senses something just beyond reach.

Together, they share the space in silence, each immersed in their own way.

The surroundings are soft and abstract The layers of colours and marks don’t describe a place, but a feeling: calm, cocooned, a little secretive.

For me, this piece is about those small rituals of stillness. The warmth of a mug, the comfort of socks, the company of a cat, and the mystery that lingers quietly in the spaces between.
