A monochrome portrait on tonal value
I’ve been filming and editing my first lesson for Paint Your Heart and Soul 2020 hosted by Olga Furman. I’ve created a monochrome portrait in red with expressive line work in white pastel pencil.
You’ll learn about tonal value and make a value scale. You’ll create contrast and depth to the face, making it look three-dimensional.
I’ve chosen the color red to give a certain expression to the portrait. Red radiates strength and passion, but when it’s tinted down to pink it expresses softness and vulnerability.
